Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 5,285 people, 1,917 households, and 1,398 families residing in the township. The population density was 135.2 people per square mile (52.3/km²). There were 2,009 housing units at an average density of 50.7/sq mi (19.5/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.67% White, 0.13% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.66% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population.
